Oscars 2016 had one of the better runs in terms of fashion on the red carpet, but as always, there are those who just missed the memo when it came to their sartorial choices. Here's a look at the worst dressed celebrities from the 88th Academy Awards. Ironically, it was the designers who really went wrong this time around.
We can't even begin to explain what's going on with Amy Poehler's Andrew Gn gown. We love embroidery but this number is way too much. (Source: AP)
We LOVE Whoopi Goldberg, but we're not impressed with her sartorial choices for the Oscars 2016 at all. The black off-the-shoulder retr-style number, showing off her shoulder tattoo. Goldberg opted to team the gown with Savan Bachachi jewellery, and that did nothing for her look. (Source: AP)
Songwriter Diane Warren opted for a sparkly pantsuit for the evening. And though we admire androgynous dressing, this look was quite appalling. (Source: AP)
Presenter and model Jackie Miranne (left) looked like version of Big Bird in this long and bright (neither in a good way) greenish yellow dress. The bun on top did not help soften the look either. Here she's pictured with her mother, Joy Mangano. (Source: AP)
Andra Day's SAFiYAA dress seems to be melting away, especially that one-shoulder strap that looks like it's too lazy to stay up. Day teamed the lemon yellow gown with Pedro Garcia shoes, a Swarovski clutch and CSARITE and Open Hearts Jewelry. The very yeasteryear hairdo added to the list of epic fails with this appearance. Is it too much to expect from costume designers to look gorgeous? Designer Jacqueline West does not seem to think so, who looked like she was wearing a black gunny sack with cut shoulders at the Oscars 2016. Oh, the horror. (Source: AP)
The only thing good about actress and talk show host Kelly Ripa's gown is that it shows off her petite figure. The Dennis Basso gown looks like someone's splattered muck all over it. Neither the colour nor the flare at the bottom worked even a bit. (Source: AP)
We admire the fact that Lily Cole opted for a silver Vivienne Westwood gown made completely out of recycled plastic bottles, but we definitely wish it didn't look like crumpled packing plastic. (Source: AP)
Mindy Kaling's two-toned dramatic dress with the blue curtain-like train was just a series of big no-nos. The Elizabeth Kennedy dress seemed extremely constricting for her voluptuous body. (Source: AP)
Fashion designer Adepero Oduye's blinding animal print dress for the red carpet had heads turning at the Oscars 2016, but for all the wrong reasons. (Source: AP)
Designer Sandy Powell walked the Oscars 2016 red carpet in what looked like a tribute to legendary singer David Bowie. Click on for a list of the best-dressed celebrities on the Oscars red carpet. (Source: AP)
