As the countdown to Christmas begins, we give you a glimpse into how the city has geared up to welcome Santa.

Big Ball: The city’s tallest Christmas tree, dressed with baubles, bells, bows, lights and ribbons, stands inside Select Citywalk. A huge round glowing ball, made of over two lakh LEDs in tints of red and yellow is called “Christmas Ball Trimming”.

Ginger all the Way: Braving the cold and bees is an outdoor installation of a gingerbread village, inhabited by an edible Santa, with a shoe house and snowmen, at the entrance of Angels in My Kitchen in Cyberhub, Gurgaon. There is also a six-ft tall edible Christmas tree made of sugar-coated gingerbread cookies.

Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gol Dak Khana has organised carol singing with a bilingual service at 11:30 pm on Christmas eve, in English and Hindi. There will be an English mass at 9 am on December 25 as well.

Santa Express: A multitude of desi avatars of Santa within Pacific Mall does ring a bell with the Tagore Garden audience. Here one would find a south Indian Father Christmas, sporting a dhoti, wearing big orange-tinted sunglasses with coconut water in his hand.

Celebrations Continue: At Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, the nativity scene plays out with baby Jesus in a stable and life-sized figurines of Mary, Joseph and three shepherds. And Santa Claus on a scooter makes an appearance too.

Books for Thought: A seven-ft tall Christmas tree in the Oxford Bookstore in Connaught Place has been made using books. The tree this year is built entirely from crime novels.
