While most actresses bring their most splendid gowns to the red carpet the prestigious Academy Awards, some prefer to rock the red carpet in trousers. We take a look at some of the divas who brought some edge to the Oscars, in pants.

Angelina Jolie: Back in 2001, Angelina Jolie picked a white satin tuxedo-style suit by Dolce & Gabbana with a plunging neckline for the red carpet. With her hair pulled back in a tight knot and no jewellery, the actress had us swooning.
Anne Hathaway: In 2011, the actress hosted the grand Oscar night along with actor James Franco. Anne had some fantastic costume changes that night as she picked stunning gowns. But among the dresses, was a menswear Lanvin tux which Hathaway paired with custom Brian Atwood heels decked out in Swarovski crystals.
Helen Lasichanh: As if her husband Pharrell Williams' shorts weren’t bold enough, but Helen ditched the gown on Oscar night in 2014 for black pants, white blazer and a bowtie.
Ellen DeGeneres: And of course there’s talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Diane Keaton: The actress has a penchant for rocking menswear as women’s wear. At the 2004 Oscars, Diane Keaton wore a Ralph Lauren suit with black pinstriped pants, a bowler hat and polka-dotted tie. Back in 1976, the actress was chic in a crisp white suit.
Michelle Pfeiffer: This fabulous actress has also gone the trouser way in an Armani navy cocktail suit for the Academy Awards in 1988.
Barbra Streisand: You can always trust Barbra Streisand to shock and rock no matter where she is. The veteran actress and singer picked her Oscar in 1969, wearing Arnold Scaasi’s see-through outfit with sequins and black net.
Celine Dion: 1999, the singer and actress stirred things up with her creamJohn Galliano tuxedo.
Jane Fonda: The actress was spiffy in a black Yves Saint Laurent buttoned up suit at the 1972 Oscars.
