As 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival goes under way, let's walk down memory lane and take a look at the Bollywood celebs who chose Indianwear for the French red carpet.

Talk about Cannes red carpet fashion and the first thing that comes to mind are beautifully crafted gowns and stunning jewellery by major European design houses. It's not common to talk about Indian designers and their gorgeous creations that have our Bollywood divas sashaying amid the global glitterati, with their designs reflecting Indian traditions and culture in the lines and cuts, as well as the emebellishments. As 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival goes under way, let's walk down memory lane and take a look at the Bollywood celebs who chose Indianwear for the French red carpet.

Cannes 2013: Sonam Kapoor decided to go traditional at the screening of The Great Gatsby. She opted for a lace sari by Anamika Khanna and an embroidered jacket. What stood out in this look of hers was the pearl nathni which she pulled off well. Verdict: Hit.

Cannes 2002: Aishwarya has had a hit-and-miss relationship with fashion at the Cannes red carpet. For her debut Cannes appearance in 2002 the actor wore a golden Neeta Lulla sari with heavy gold jewellery. Verdict: Hit.

Cannes 2013: At Young And Beautiful premiere, Vidya Balan wore her nude Sabyasachi sari with jewellery by Pankaj Surana. What caught everyone's attention was her jadau nathni. Verdict: Hit.

Cannes 2014: A day after wowing everyone with her elegant vintage look in a black Elie Saab at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, Sonam Kapoor turned a desi belle in a pale pink Anamika Khanna couture net sari dress. Verdict: Hit.

Seen here in a beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga with broad black borders and a dupatta on her head, what people didn’t like about this look is how she carried the outfit. It was too overwhelming.
