There is actually a cure for hangover. It revolves around moderation and abstinence. 1. A greasy breakfast: Have lots of water first, and keep having it. Next, put some nice chow into your system. A cheese omelette would be nice, and toast. And, have a banana as well. If you like bacon, go for it. The protein in the eggs/bacon and the carbs in the bread will help in mitigating, if not curing, the ill effects of too much drink. 2. Have a Bloody Mary, or two: Chef Sabyasachi Gorai, of Delhi’s Lavaash by Saby, suggests a Bloody Mary Soup. It’s easy to make and has ingredients — tomatoes, green chilli, balsamic vinegar and lime juice — that you’ll have no problems finding in your fridge. Head here for the recipe. 3. Have some khichdi and curd: What you need on dog days like these is comfort food. Like khichdi, anything that settles your stomach down and help stop your head from pounding. Or, at least, puts you back to sleep on a full stomach. Plus, khichdi is nutritious as well. (Text: Team Express Foodie; Image: Devika/Flickr )

4. Eat light if you feel like it: There is a school of thought that believes greasy breakfasts are not the answer, and recommend eating light and staying hydrated. Which, to us, means coconut water, or lemon water and bananas. Plus, maybe, an apple. (Text: Team Express Foodie; Image: Thinkstock Images/Flickr)

5. Coffee: This one is for people who can’t get up and go without coffee. But, the problem with coffee is that it is a diuretic, and that’s the last thing one should have if you are dehydrated. But, coffee is also a pick-me-up, so if you make sure you have a glass of water along with your coffee — preferably black — things should be fine, or at least, headed on the road to normalcy.
