
A sleeper bus travelling from Jaipur to Delhi overturned near Hanuman Mandir in Karol Bagh early Wednesday, resulting in casualties and multiple injuries among passengers onboard

At around 1 am, police at Karol Bagh received a PCR call reporting that several passengers were trapped inside the overturned vehicle following the accident

A police team, along with picket staff and night patrolling personnel, rushed to the scene and found the bus lying on its side with passengers trapped inside

Rescue operations were immediately launched by police, Delhi Fire Services and locals, who worked together to pull out passengers from the wreckage

A JCB machine was brought in to lift the overturned bus, enabling rescuers to reach those trapped underneath and inside the vehicle

Initial findings indicated that the bus, carrying around 30 passengers, overturned at high speed in low-visibility conditions and also collided with a vehicle, damaging roadside structures

Injured passengers were shifted to hospitals across Delhi, with critical cases taken to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and others to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Lady Hardinge Medical College for treatment

Two male passengers succumbed to injuries at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, including Shehbaj Alam from Uttar Pradesh, while the identity of the second victim was yet to be confirmed

The bus driver was detained and is undergoing treatment, as authorities continue investigation into the cause of the accident, crediting swift response by police and emergency teams for saving lives
