The Indian Meteorological Department had announced an early onset of the monsoon for Delhi in the month of June. However, changes in conditions that promote the advancement of moisture-laden winds meant that there were delays. (PTI)

The weather department also clarified that the delay in monsoon advance was mainly due to three reasons -- no formation of low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal, an absence of monsoon trough at mean sea level near Delhi and the movement of five-six western disturbances from west to east, dominating over the monsoon easterlies.
