Farmers hold nationwide protest, demand revocation of farm bills

At least 31 organisations, under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), are participating in the agitation. They have called for a complete shutdown of Punjab. Farmers have said the three Bills -- The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 -- would leave them at a disadvantage and at the "mercy" of big corporates.
