Laser show and drone formations are on display at Vijay Chowk, on the eve of India's 73rd Republic Day for the Beating Retreat ceremony.
This is the first time in India's history that a laser show would be held at the Beating Retreat ceremony.
The ceremony will be held on January 29 at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi. According to an ANI report, 1000 made-in-India drones participated in the rehearsals.
Earlier, the government had dropped Abide With Me, a hymn that has been used in the Beating the Retreat ceremony since 1950 from the ceremony. It has been replaced by Kavi Pradeep’s Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon, which was written in the wake of the Sino-Indian War.
This year, there will also be a projection mapping show to commemorate 75 years of Independence, showcased on the walls of North and South blocks before the end of the ceremony.
Beating the Retreat marks the last ceremony of the nation's Republic Day celebrations, which started on 23 January with PM Modi unveiling the hologram statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate.
