Teraa Surroor, Airlift, Neerja box office collections: Here’s how films have fared at ticket window

Himesh Reshammiya starrer Tera Surroor, that released on March 11, opened at the box office with a collection of Rs 1.79 cr. Himesh's film got mixed response from the critics but audiences were impressed with the film's songs. The film is currently in theatres and has been doing average business at the ticket window.

Akshay Kumar's Airlift, which was the first big relesase of year 2016, earned Rs. 127 cr and was the first movie of this year to enter the coveted 100 crore club. Sonam Kapoor's Neerja, Priyanka Chopra's Jai Gangaajal, Sunny Leone's Mastizaade, and few more have also done good business at the box office. Here are the box office collections of some of the films that have released so far in 2016.

Teraa Surroor

The singer/composer/actor Himesh Reshammiya, whose songs have been a rage, was seen playing the titular role in Teraa Surroor. The film's box office collections till Monday (March 14) were Rs. 7.84 cr and it collected Rs 1.79 cr on Day 1 of its release.

Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta gave the film a half star and worte: "Can anyone go through an entire film with a fixed expression? Himesh Reshammiya does a hence proven in ‘Teraa Surroor’ in which he is busily engaged on a twin project: trying to prise his lady love from a Dublin prison, and to uncover a mystery man who has evil designs on him and her."

Jai Gangaajal

Though the movie didnt match the standards set by its prequel starring Ajay Devgn, Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal fearturing Priyanka Chopra did good business at the box office. The film's collections collected Rs.20.6 cr.

Neerja

Strong word of mouth, amazing performance by all the actors and a brilliant story were enough to pull audience to the theatres for this film based on a true story. The film has collected Rs. 71.10 cr till now.

The real-life story of late Neerja Bhanot seems to have impressed the viewers. The movie is also considered Sonam's best performance till date.

Airlift opening box office collection: Rs 12.35 crore

Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer falls fourth in the list with Rs 12.35 crore. Airlift was this year's first film to enter 100 crore club and that too in 10 days of its release.

Wazir

This Amitabh-Farhan starrer was the first hit of 2016. The suspense thriller, directed by Bejoy Nambiar collected Rs 41.02 cr.

Mastizaade

Tushhar Kapoor, Vir Das and Sunny Leone starrer sex comedy earned the total lifetime collection of Rs 36.44 cr.

Ghayal Once Again

Sunny Deol made a comeback on the big screen with Ghayal Once Again and stunned everyone with its first week collections. The film took off to a good start and earned Rs. 7.20 cr on the first day itself. The film managed to earn Rs. 56.82 cr worldwide. There was a lot of buzz around the film.

Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Madana Karimi's film opened to negative reviews from the critics and Ekta Kapoor's superhit franchise was simply rejected by the audiences. The film, which earned Rs. 8.15 crore on its opening day, registered a steep fall in its collections during its first week. The total lifetime collection of the film is Rs 30.25 cr. at the box office.

Sanam Re

Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam spread love on Valentine's Day with their film Sanam Re which was directed by Divya Khosla Kumar. The film earned Rs. 5.04 cr on the first day which was higher than what its contemporary Fitoor earned. The film has earned Rs 27.71 cr.

Fitoor

Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer Fitoor faced competition at the box office from Pulkit Samrat's Sanam Re. Though the latter came out victorious, Fitoor, however managed to earn a decent amount of Rs. 27.54 cr in India and Rs. 43.12 cr worldwide.

Saala Khadoos

R Madhavan, Ritika Singh starrer did a lifetime collection of Rs 14.79 cr. Ritika Singh, who is also trained in mixed martial arts, did her Bollywood debut in the film.
