When Shah Rukh Khan wanted to become Gauri’s brother, see their pics over the years

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri have one of the strongest marriages in Bollywood. Together for 25 years now, SRK and Gauri are celebrating their 25th anniversary on Tuesday. While the couple itself is away in chilly Budapest with younger son AbRam and have plans to celebrate their special day in Spain, we came across an interesting anecdote about them. Shah Rukh Khan has been open about his love for Gauri. He had once said about his wife, "I don't know whether I am a nut but I am very intense about my love for Gauri. She's a part of me." Gauri, meanwhile, has time and again said how he has been the only man in her life. But there was a time when he wanted to be Gauri's brother. In fact, he himself revealed this a few years back.

It all happened when SRK and Gauri met for the first time. While Shah Rukh was smitten from the very moment he saw Gauri Chibber, she was not impressed. It was at a common friend's party and the actor was just 18. Shy and reticent, it was hard for him to go and ask for a dance. It was harder still when Gauri turned him down and she did it by saying that she was waiting for her boyfriend. In reality, she did not have a boyfriend and was waiting for her brother who was supposed to pick her up from the party.

Later, Shah Rukh came to know that Gauri was lying and the 'boyfriend' was actually her brother.

SRK called up Gauri and said, “Mujhe bhi apna bhai samjho (Consider me your brother)."

SRK followed her there and after searching for days, found her at a beach. The two then realised that their relationship is for keeps. The rest, as they say, is Bollywood history.
