Bollywood's A list celebs including Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Anil Kapoor and a host of other celebs walked the red carpet at the opening of 17th Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) in Mumbai held at the historic Gateway of India. Nita Ambani and Kiran Rao were the perfect hosts for the glittering evening. <br /><br /> The eight-day festival, organised by Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) with Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) and Star India, was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who was last seen onscreen in 'Phantom', wore a black Anamika Khanna dress. tting aside my jealousy over that waist and the fact that she looked really good waist up, am not a fan of the skirt. And this is coming from a die-hard AK fan. Perhaps, if the skirt was more high-waisted , there wouldn’t feel such a huge disconnect between the top and the bottom.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt was all smiles at the MAMI opening and she looked pretty in a green strapless Isabel Sanchis gown. She ditched jewellery for her look. Alia's last movie Shaandaar didnt do well at the box office and the actress told reporters: "It is a first time for me."

National Award winning actress Kangana Ranaut, who was last seen onscree in 'Katti Batti', looked princessy in a voluminous gown.

Abhishek told reporters at the opening ceremony of 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival: "I saw Jazbaa and I loved the film. Very proud of my wife. The entire team of Sanjay Gupta, Irrfan Khan and others worked hard for the film. I am very, very proud of my wife."

"We want to make Mumbai the entertainment hub. We wish to create state-of-the-art facility at the film city to be at par with global destinations. Not only Indian cinema but world cinema should come here for production," Devendra Fadnavis said.

Amos Gitai

Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai was conferred with 'Excellence in Cinema' award for his outstanding work. Gitai, known for making documentaries and feature films surrounding the Middle East and Jewish-Arab conflict, was presented with Excellence in Cinema Award - International. "Many great filmmakers from this country have inspired me.... Filmmakers should be given the liberty to speak what's their on their mind. I believe everybody who loves his or her country needs to have a voice and this voice should be kept (intact)," Gitai said. His two films "Disengagement" and "Promised Land" will be screened at the festival.

Rajkumar Hirani, Javed Akhtar, Salim Khan, Sohail Khan

Bollywood filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani presented the award to Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan's son, actor Sohail Khan who received the honour on his behalf as the writer was not well. "It is uncanny but exactly 50 years back, I had met Salim... We did good work because we were not scared, not that we were brave but we didn't know any other way," Akhtar said.
