Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Silsila, Deewaar : Yash Chopra’s top 10 movies

Noted filmmaker who was admired for his dedication in the Bollywood industry, Yash Chopra has given some of the best and all time hit movies to the viewers. As it is the 83rd birth anniversary of the director who built "Yash Raj Films", we bring to you his top 10 movies.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan:

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' was Yash Chopra's last directorial venture. He passed away three years ago in October, 2012 following a lung ailment even before the release of his last movie.

The movie was declared a hit in India and did good business overseas as well. It was after eight years that Yash Chopra had returned to directing after 'Veer-Zaara' with this film. The film also brought together Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif for the very first time.

Mohabbatein:

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Jugal Hasnraj, Jimmy Sheirgill, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma and Preeti Jhingiani, 'Mohabbtein' was directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra. The movie was a superhit and was declared the highest grossing film of 2000 worldwide. The romantic drama film was critically acclaimed.

Veer-Zaara:

The love story of an Indian Air Force pilot, Veer Pratap Singh (Shah Rukh Khan) and the daughter of a Pakistani political family, Zaara Hayat Khan (Preity Zinta), the romantic drama film released in 2004. Rani Mukerji plays a lawyer who fights the case of the two separated lovers. Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini were also seen in pivotal roles. The movie was a comeback of Yash Chopra as a director after seven year, post the release of his last film 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai'.

Silsila:

Silsila starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha was one of the favourite films of Yash Chopra. It was the last movie of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha together.

Kabhi Kabhie:

'Kabhi Kabhie' was another favourite of the ace filmmaker. A multi starrer movie featured Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Raakhee, Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor. The title track of the film 'Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein' was a revolution which was sung by singer Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar.

Lamhe:

The 1991 release 'Lamhe' inspired from the Rajesh Khanna film 'Anokha Rishta' starred Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. The movie did not fare well at the box office in India, but it was a hit in UK. Sridevi won accolades for playing double role and Anil Kapoor also won appreciation. The movie is considered to be one of the finest films of Yash Chopra.

Deewaar:

Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor starrer 'Deewaar' released in 1975. The film, which did wonders at the box office, released in 1975. It also won the Filmfare Best Movie of the year award. Late actress Parveen Babi also played a pivotal role in the film.

Daag:

Yash Raj directed the movie 'Daag' starring Sharmila Tagore, Rajesh Khanna, Raakhee in the year 1973. The movie became a superhit as Rajesh Khanna was at the peak of his career at that time. The film was an adaption of the novel "The Mayor of Casterbridge".

Chandni:

'Chandni' was a love traingle between Rishi Kapoor, Sridevi and Vinod Khanna. The movie, which released in the year 1989 was a major success which also boosted the careers of Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna who were seen together in 'Amar Akbar Anthony' before that. The songs of the film became superhit and Sridevi's Chandni look became very popular.
