Earlier a lot of Bollywood movies films were being re-made in regional languages but now the trend seems to have reversed over the years. Most of the superhit films in Hindi film industry are now remakes of hit South Indian films. From Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam' to Salman Khan's Bodyguard', here is a list of a few hit southern remakes.Ajay Devgn's 'Drishyam' also starring Tabu and Shriya Saran is a remake of the Jeethu's 2013 hit Malayalam film with the same name. Malayalam film had superstar Mohanlal in the lead. 'Drishyam' also had a Tamil remake which featured another superstar Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Directed by Nishikant Kamat, the Hindi Drishyam releases this Friday (July 31). Singam - Singham: Another Ajay Devgn film, 'Singham' earned positive response at the Box Office in 2011. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the action comedy movie was a remake of Tamil film 'Singam' which had superstar Suriya in it. The Hindi version was made twice. Kaakhan Kaakha - Force: Starring John Abraham and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles, 'Force' released in the year 2011. 'Drishyam' director Nishikant Kamat directed the movie which was again a remake of the Tamil film 'Kaakha Kaakha'. The original film featured Suriya and Jyothika in the lead roles. John is ready to return with the sequel to the movie which will reportedly have an original script. Ghajini - Ghajini: Aamir Khan's superhit film 'Ghajini' (2008) was a remake of the Tamil psychological thriller 'Ghajini'. Director AR Murugadoss, whose latest movie 'Baahubali' has done wonders at the box office was a common factor between the Tamil and Hindi versions of 'Ghajini'. The Hindi movie was Asin's debut film in Bollywood. Late actor Jiah Khan also played a pivotal role in the film. The movie made records and was declared an all time blockbuster of that year. Pokiri - Wanted: Salman Khan's comeback film, 'Wanted' released in 2009 which broke all box office records. Directed by Prabhudheva, the film was a remake of the Telugu movie 'Pokiri' featuring Mahesh Babu and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead roles. Prakash Raj, Vinod Khanna and Mahesh Manjhreka also played pivotal roles in the film. Post Wanted there has been no looking back for Salman Khan. Ready - Ready: Salman Khan was next seen in yet another south remake - Ready. The Hindi film was a remake of Mahesh Babu's Telugu hit 'Ready'. It released in the year 2011 and became the second highest opening day grosser. The film had Asin opposite Salman. Vikramarkudu - Rowdy Rathore: Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha's 'Rowdy Rathore' which released in 2012 was another remake by director Prabhudeva. The movie did well thanks to a strong word of mouth. 'Rowdy Rathore' was a remake of Telugu film 'Vikramarkudu'. The film starred Akshay in double role. Bodyguard - Bodyguard: Salman Khan's 2011 release 'Bodyguard' was a remake of Malayalam film with the same name. Both the films were directed by Siddique. Salman Khan appeared on screen with Kareena Kapoor Khan in this movie. The movie which opened to 3250 theatres worldwide did well at the box office. Minnale - Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein: Saif Ali Khan, R Madhavan and Dia Mirza starrer 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' was a remake of Tamil film 'Minnale'. The Tamil version of the movie also starred Madhavan in the lead role. The film released in 2001, and did not fare well at the box office when it released, but gradually earned popularity among the youth. Maryada Ramanna - Son of Sardar: Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardar' was a remake of SS Rajamouli's Telugu movie 'Maryada Ramanna'. This 2012 release which starred Sonakshi Sinha opposite Ajay was directed by Ashwni Dhir. Sanjay Dutt also played a pivotal role in the film. The movie's box office performance was good. Manichitrathazhu - Bhool Bhulaiyaa: Akshay Kumar starrer 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' was a psychological comedy horror which released in the year 2007. The movie was a remake of the Malayalam film 'Manichitrathazhu' starring Mohanlan. 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' also starred Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel and Shiney Ahuja. 'Manichitrathazhu' was also remade in Tamil titled 'Chandramukhi' in 2005, which had Rajinikanth, Prabhu and Jyothika in the lead. Katha Parayumpol (Malayalam) - Kuselan - Billu: Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan starrer 'Billu' was a remake of the hit Malayalam film 'Katha Parayumbo' starring 'Mammootty'. The Hindi film, which released in 2009 had SRK playing himself in the movie. The film was also remade in Tamil titled 'Kuselan' which starred Rajinikanth in the lead role.
