Dilwale box office collections: Shah Rukh Khan’s movie earns Rs 21 cr on day 1

Expectations from the Rohit Shetty directed film were sky high, especially since it was the reunion of Bollywood’s favourite onscreen couples. The numbers are out and they’re impressive. ‘Dilwale’ collected Rs. 21 crore on its opening day, beating Bajirao Mastani, which earned Rs. 12.80 crore.

According to Red Chillies Entertainment, the audience response to the film has been good from all age groups, particularly from families. ‘Dilwale’ is also said to have had a good first day in the international markets. It had a record breaking opening day in East and South India.

Taran Adarsh posted that both this Friday’s releases, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dilwale’ are liked by moviegoers. However, the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer may have suffered a bit in terms of collections, when compared to ‘Dilwale’.

Indian Express rated ‘Dilwale’ one star. “In this rigmarole, SRK is the only thing worth watching when he switches on the wattage ( Kajol can shine, too, when she chooses to), but his twin parts—a ‘car modifier’ named Raj, and a gangster called Kali (yes, that’s right), are both familiar and bland. When old hands SRK and Kajol look into each other’s eyes, they can still make you feel it, except it doesn’t happen enough,” wrote Shubhra Gupta.
