Aquaman: Jason Momoa takes a deep-dive as the underwater DC superhero

Aquaman is the upcoming big DC superhero film starring Jason Momoa in the lead role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman. The studios have big hopes from the movie since the last DC film Justice League (that also starred Momoa's Aquaman) was an expensive disaster. Aquaman releases on December 14 in India.

Arthur and Mera go on a quest to retrieve the Trident of Neptune, a weapon that can only be wielded by the king of Atlantis after being counselled to do so by Willem Dafoe's Nuidis Vulko. The wielder of that trident would have the power of the seven seas.

Nicole Kidman plays the role of Queen Atlanna, the mother of Arthur. She hopes Arthur will reunite the seven underwater kingdoms one day.

Patrick Wilson is Orm, Arthur's half-brother and a purebred Atlantean. He is the son of Queen Atlanna and Orvax, the "hateful" king of Atlantis. He hates Arthur with a passion and scorns at his human (or surface dweller) lineage.

Being set in underwater, Aquaman features fantastical creatures and Atlantean riding sharks and mythical underwater animals. Critics who have seen the movie have been impressed by the film's visuals.
