Amitabh Bachchan requests a series and not just a film on Bal Thackeray at the teaser launch of Thackeray

Amitabh Bachchan, who has shared an emotional bond with Bal Thackeray, on Thursday promised to contribute his bit in the making of the upcoming biopic on the late Shiv Sena founder-president titled Thackeray. The megastar of Bollywood was present at the teaser launch of the film in Mumbai along with Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. The film which will see Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role of Bal Thackeray will be directed by Abhijit Panse. The biopic will hit the theaters on January 23, 2019. Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared the teaser of the film late on Thursday night. "It’s an honour and pride to portray the Real King of the Country on Screen. Here comes the TEASER of #Thackeray Hearty Thanx to Shri @uddhavthackeray Sir, Shri @rautsanjay61, Shri @SrBachchan Sir and Abhijit Panse," wrote Nawazuddin while sharing the teaser.

Remembering Thackeray, Bachchan told journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut, "I am glad that you have taken the step to make a film on Bal Saab. I wish you all the luck for the successful making of the film. If you need anything, any contribution from my end in whichever capacity, please allow me to know about it. Amitabh also requested the makers of the bilingual biopic Thackeray to make a series on Bal Thackeray instead of just one film. He said, "I want to request you not to limit the larger than life personality like him into a three-hour movie. I think in today's time when we watch so many web series, we can make a series on Bal Thackeray to capture different phases of his life and personality. The first look of Nawazuddin as Thackeray started doing the rounds on social media much before the official release of the teaser and poster. This is the first time that a biopic on Bal Thackeray is being attempted by a filmmaker.
