Entertainment Gallery Aligarh, Neerja, Airlift, Tere Bin Laden, Ghayal Once Again: Clashes of the year 2016 Aligarh, Ter Bin Laden, Neerja, Ghayal Once Again, Airlift - Take a look at the clashes of the year 2016. Aligarh starring Manoj Bajpayee, which released on February 26, saw Aligarh flying high with strong positive reviews flowing in from viewers. The film, which has received less screen numbers compared to Tere Bin Laden Dead Or Alive, has succeeded in winning people’s hearts on Day One. Aligarh seeks to tell the story of the later Prof. Siras whose homosexual orientation and his private act of having sex with his companion that resulted in his ostracisation from society. While the box office collections will be out soon, it remains to see how the proves itself in banking the money. Tere Bin Laden Dead Or Alive opened to a dismal start. The political satire lacked the bite to keep viewers entertained. Almost everyone unanimously felt the prequel was way better than the sequel. Neither the plot nor the performances delighted audience. Neerja starring Sonam Kapoor, which clashed with three other films - Loveshhuda, Ishq Forever, Direct Ishq - has opened to a positive reviews from both the critics and the audiences. The real-life story of late Neerja Bhanot and Sonam Kapoor's performance as Neerja seems to have impressed the viewers and has emerged as the winner and has collected Rs. 4.70 cr. at the box office. Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer Fitoor did not open to great numbers at the box office as it has managed to collect a mere Rs. 3.61 crore on the first day of its release. From meeting the fans to dancing at colleges, talking to press and shopping at local markets of the capital, the lead actors of the film indulged in various promotional activities which might have just gone overboard. It is the box office number that speaks of the films, and this film, which is set in the beautiful locales of Kashmir seems to have lost its charm somewhere. Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam may not have the big stars element in the film but the love story set in a small town has definitely more power than its contemporary Fitoor. The film has done well at the box office on its first day as it earned Rs. 5.04 cr on the first day itself. The film has a super first weekend, earns Rs. 17.05 cr. Ghayal Once Again - Sunny Deol's latest release Ghayal Once Again, which is a sequel to its 1990 released film Ghayal, collected Rs. 7.20 cr on day one itself. On the second day also, it collected Rs. 7.65 cr, on the third day Rs. 8.40 cr and on the fourth day Rs. 3.60 cr at the box office taking the total collection of the film to Rs. 26.85 cr. Being the only star actor in the film, Sunny Deol with his huge fan following has managed to pull the audience to the theatres. Ghayal Once Again, which clashed with Sanam Teri Kasam starring Mawra Hocane and Harshvardhan Rane at the box office, doesn't seem to be affected by the clash and is having a good run so far. Sanam Teri Kasam - Sanam Teri Kasam which marked the debut of the young actors Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane earned Rs. 1.25 crore at the box office. Having fresh new faces and backed by a love story, the film considerably has done a good business and the new comers have got a warm welcome by the audiences. The film is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Airlift - Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur starrer 'Airlift' is the first film of 2016 that has collected Rs 100 crore at the box office and that too in 10 days of its release. The film, which is based on a true story of the largest human evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Gulf War in the 90s, earned Rs. 114.32 crore at the box office till now. This is Akshay Kumar's fourth film to cross Rs. 100 crore after Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore and Holiday. The film did well at the box office despite being clashed with Ekta Kapoor's adult comedy 'Kya Kool Hai Hum 3' starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivadasani and Mandana Karimi. Airlift was released on January 22. Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 - 'Kya Kool Hai Hum 3' starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Mandana Karimi opened to negative reviews from the critics and Ekta Kapoor's superhit franchise was simply rejected by the audiences. The film, which earned Rs. 8.15 crore on its opening day, registered a steep fall in its collections during its first week. Thus, the total lifetime collection of the film is Rs 30.06 crore at the box office. Saala Khadoos - R Madhavan's latest release Saala Khadoos didn’t impress the viewers to a great extent and earned a mere Rs. 1.28 crore on day one of its release. The film, which was also released in Tamil with the title Irudhi Suttru, earned Rs. 91 lacs, from the Tamil version. Saala Khadoos featuring the real life boxer Ritika Singh brought in a new subject but it did not stand up to the expectations of its fans. The film collected a total of Rs. 12.63 crore at the box office. Mastizaade: Next came Sunny Leone’s Mastizaade, which opened to negative to bad reviews on Janaury 29 but collected Rs 18.45 crore in first two days at the box office. Mastizaade is also Sunny Leone’s third highest opening day grosser with a collection of Rs. 5.59 cr after Ragini MMS 2 and Jism 2. The movie was liked by the audiences and registered a steady growth in its figures taking its total collection to Rs. 28.74 crore at the box office till now.
