
Airlift starring Akshay Kumar has collected Rs 100 crore at the box office. The film, which opened to good reviews from the critics and audience, earned Rs 8.26 crore on Sunday (January 31) thus taking the total to Rs 102.76 cr.

Despite two releases – Sunny Leone’s Mastizaade and Madhavan’s Saala Khadoos, Akshay Kumar's Airlift did good business on weekend. Taran Adarsh, who has been tweeting figures of Arilift’s box office collections, wrote: “#Airlift has a FANTASTIC Sunday. Crosses ₹ 100 cr mark. [Week 2] Fri 4.50 cr, Sat 6.50 cr, Sun 8.26 cr. Total: ₹ 102.76 cr. India biz.”

Airlift has become Akshay Kumar’s fourth film to cross the 100 cr mark. Earlier his films like Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Holiday (2014) have achieved this feat. Airlift had collected Rs. 12.35 cr. on its opening day, next day it earned Rs. 14.60 cr. On the third day collections were even higher as it grossed Rs. 17.35 cr. Though the collections went down to Rs. 10.40 cr on the fourth day but the film witnessed a rise in its collections of Day 5 – January 26.

The collections on day five were Rs. 17.80 cr and the film is now headed to enter the Rs 100 crore club soon.

Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta had written in her review: “It is the sort of awakening that shakes loose Katyal from his cocooned wealthy life, which he shares with his wife Amrita (Nimrat Kaur) and young daughter, forcing him to deal with a series of dangerous situations, and leading to the evacuation of more than a lakh Indians stuck between Saddam Hussain’s brutal forces and an alarmingly slow-to-take-heed Indian state.”

Airlift
Akshay Kumar stoked patriotic fervour with Airlift which was based on the record evacuation of Indians after the 1990 invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. The film earned Rs 128.1 crore.

Akshay Kumar had recently said that films like Airlift come once in a lifetime for any actor.
“While most of you have written I should do more films like ‘Airlift’… I wish I could but honestly films like these come very rarely, almost once in an actor’s lifetime and I am extremely fortunate to be a part of it. Thank you all for everything,” he wrote.
