Keeping in view the increasing demand for water in summer months and to reduce wastage,the Water Supply and Sewerage Disposal Committee of the Municipal Corporation has decided that awareness will be spread among residents.
The committee held a special meeting on Monday after complaints of irregular and muddy water supply was reported in Ramdarbar. Now,it has been decided that a survey of the area will be conducted and a report regarding illegal connections and punctures in supply lines will be prepared within two days. Regular water supply from 5 to 9 in the morning and corresponding hours in the evening would be provided in Ramdarbar. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vijay Singh Rana and attended by other members of the committee including Deputy Mayor Sheela Devi,H C Kalyan and Ram Sumer Maurya. Councillors Pardeep Chhabra and Ram Lal were the special invitees.
During the meeting,it was decided that an additional water tanker will be provided in the localities where the supply is muddy. Work for installing water meters will be also be undertaken soon.
Defaulters who have installed handpumps and motors in the direct water supply lines will have to face the music as legal action will be taken against them. Tanks will be cleaned and maintained in colonies. It was further decided that the mayor,chairman of the water supply committee and area councillor will have to be informed before any repair works in the water pipelines are done. Generators will be installed in the tubewells where necessary,so that power cuts do not halt the operations and water supply.
