Panel seeks status report from colleges,universities

In an attempt to resurrect the higher education system in the state,the newly set up advisory committee to the department has sought status report on all the state-run colleges and universities in Bengal.

In an attempt to resurrect the higher education system in the state,the newly set up advisory committee to the department has sought status report on all the state-run colleges and universities in Bengal. After a series of meeting in the last few days,the 10-member committee headed by academician Sunanda Sanyal took a decision in this regard on Friday evening after its meeting at Bikash Bhavan.

The move is aimed at ascertaining the problems areas in the higher educational institutions in the state.

“We want a detailed report on infrastructure,research and academic input of our higher education institutions,” said Sanyal.

The report from various colleges and universities is likely to reach the advisory panel in next two months. Meanwhile,a set of questionnaire will be sent to the universities and college.

In the status report,the colleges will also be able to submit details on projects they would want to undertake or the infrastructure upgrade they would require. Incidentally,early this month,
