Yemens Saleh orders protection for protesters

DUBAI: Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has ordered security forces to protect demonstrators trying to end his 32-year rule,a statement said. It said Saleh had demanded security services to offer full protection for the demonstrators. Former Egypt minister,state TV boss arrested

CAIRO: Egyptian authorities on Thursday arrested the countrys former information minister and the chairman of state TV and radio on corruption allegations,security officials said. The arrests of Anas al-Fiqqi and Osama el-Sheikh are the latest steps Egypts ruling generals have taken against prominent figures in the Mubarak regime.

Bush shoe-thrower arrested in Iraq

BAGHDAD: Muntazer al-Zaidi,the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former US President George W Bush,was arrested by security forces in Baghdad on Thursday. Al-Zaidis relative said he was detained whilst voicing his support for a mass demonstration expected to be held Friday.
