The lack of proper infrastructure in Sector 23 has left residents fuming. While officials of the Haryana Urban Devolvement Authority (HUDA) claim the sector is undergoing development and will have adequate infrastructure soon, residents say they have to deal with a number of civic problems including bad roads, defunct streetlights and an illegal dumping ground.
We have been living in the sector for over a year now. While bad roads and non-functional streetlights have always been a reason of concern, the illegal dumping ground in the sector is creating havoc. Despite complaints to authorities,no heed is paid to our problems, said Satpal Yadav,a resident of the sector.
The sentiments were echoed by another resident Rakesh Kumar who said: The sector is being ignored for the last several years. Due to the lack of infrastructure, people avoid constructing houses in the sector and in turn, development has completely stopped. It is a vicious circle. Security is another area of concern. Residents do not feel safe to step outside their houses at night.
A HUDA official said: As the sector is new, development projects are on and it would take some time before the entire infrastructure is in place. As for the illegal dumping ground,it will be shifted to Jhuriwala village in Sector 25 in the coming months.
