CID gets remand of Vanzara,Dinesh

A local court on Thursday granted the CID an 11-day remand of D G Vanzara and Dinesh M N,the IPS officers arrested in connection with the Tulsi Prajapati encounter case.

A local court on Thursday granted the CID an 11-day remand of D G Vanzara and Dinesh M N,the IPS officers arrested in connection with the Tulsi Prajapati encounter case.

The court relied,among other things,on records of calls made from cellphones of Vanzara,Dinesh and Rajkumar Pandian,also an IPS officer under arrest at present. “The call records clearly show the conspiracy behind Tulsiram Prajapati’s encounter,” said DySP R K Patel,who is the investigating officer in the case.

Vanzara’s instructions,” Patel said,adding that Dinesh has emerged as the brains behind the encounter. Pandian has also been named as an accused in the case.

Vanzara,who belongs to Gujarat cadre,and Dinesh,who is from Rajasthan cadre,were taken into CID custody on Wednesday. Both have been lodged at Sabarmati jail for the last two years in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Prajapati,who was a key witness in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case,was himself killed in an encounter near Chapri village in Banaskantha district when he allegedly tried to escape from custody while being shifted from Rajasthan to Gujarat in December 2006.The CID,which is probing the Prajapati case,has so far arrested seven policemen.
