Months have passed but the Haryana Roadways has failed to resume the advance booking for its Volvo bus service. Main reason behind the delay is the breakdowns faced by the buses. The number of buses is limited and passengers can bee seen fighting on the ticket counters.
Volvo buses are the most preferred mode of commuting, especially to Delhi. Earlier, the authorities said there was a problem with the repair workshop and had to send buses to Delhi, but several days have passed since then too. Also, the roadways was to start with online system to reserve tickets, but the project hangs in fire.
The authorities have announced the launching of the online service a couple of times, but it never materialised. Also, the state has not been able to increase the number of these buses, even though they are very popular.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) was also to start AC buses for long route, but it will take some more time. If launched, the city Administration will be the first to run its own AC buses.
