Around Rs 3 lakh collected as trap amount missing from headquarters>
The amount seized by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in five high profile cases have gone missing from its head office at Shahibaug in Ahmedabad.
ACB has lost cash exceeding Rs 3 lakh that was collected as trap amounts in the five cases. One of the most important cases among the five was of I-T Commissioner Ghanshyam Meena who was arrested last year for taking a bribe of Rs 2.45 lakh.
ACB DySP R C Kotad has lodged a complaint against Fatehsinh Parmar,a writer,who maintained the registers,in this connection.
ACB Director Chitranjan Singh said: The cash that was seized during the traps in five cases has gone missing from a cupboard in the writers room. He maintained the keys of the same. We do not know how this happened,but we have lodged an FIR in the ACB in this connection.
ACB officers said the issue came to light while they were going to the court to file a chargesheet in Meenas case. When they went to collect the case papers and the cash,they found the cash missing. A further check revealed that cash collected in the other four big cases were also missing.
The ACB Director is probing the matter to know how the cash disappeared from the cupboard.
