A judge’s idea: Cricket match,lecture series for Bars of Delhi,Gauhati HCs

Lawyers from Delhi and Gauhati High Courts may soon be facing each other on the cricket pitch. Outside,they could share notes and discuss legal issues along with judges of the two courts.

The idea has been floated by Justice Madan B Lokur who took over as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court after bidding adieu to the Delhi High Court a fortnight ago. Having served as the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and also mentor of the Delhi Legal Services Authority,Justice Lokur suggested a cricket match between the Bar members of Delhi and Gauhati courts and also a lecture series attended by lawyers of the two states.

“I want an excellent interaction between the Bar members of Delhi and Gauhati. It can happen by way of bringing them together for a lecture series session or an entertaining cricket match. This will help them know each other really well,” Justice Lokur said at a function organised by the New Delhi Bar Association to felicitate him and Delhi HC Chief Justice Dipak Misra.
