According to the party’s Twitter handle, Rahul Gandhi met with gig workers and delivery partners of Dunzo, Swiggy, Zomato and Blinkit. The party said that Gandhi discussed issues like lack of stable unemployment, the rise in prices of basic commodities, and their working conditions.
“The Congress party has made specific promises for them in their Manifesto, mainly: 1. To set up a Gig Workers’ Welfare Board with a corpus of ₹3,000 crore 2. To ensure minimum hourly wages for gig workers and other workers in the unorganised sector”, the post read.
Last month, hundreds of delivery partners working with Zomato-owned Blinkit went on strike, in protest against the change in the company’s payout structure rendering the service temporarily unavailable’ in most parts of Delhi-NCR.
Counting for the Karnataka polls will begin on May 13.
