Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and actor and MP Hema Malini are among the many star campaigners that the BJP has lined up to campaign for its candidates in Telangana. The BJP is contesting all the 119 Assembly constituencies in the state. To give a big boost to the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address public meetings in the first week of December. Telangana goes to polls on December 7.
BJP president Amit Shah will address half-a-dozen public meetings in the last week of November. Apart from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Piyush Goyal, Jual Oram, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, D V Sadananda Gowda and Jagat Prakash Nadda will also be campaigning in different parts of the state. Hema Malini and Ram Madhav are expected to campaign in constituencies in and around Hyderabad.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address five or six public meetings on December 3 and 5. The venues are not yet decided. Amit Shah will campaign and address meetings on November 25, 27 and 28,” BJP’s Telangana president Dr K Laxman said. Shah had on September 15 kicked off the BJP campaign in the state by addressing a public meeting at Mahbubnagar.
Sources said that senior BJP leaders and Union Ministers will precede the arrival of Modi and Shah and hold meetings with local leaders to fine tune the election strategy. The BJP is likely to release a list of “failures and unfulfilled promises” of Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao. The party is accusing the TRS government of betraying the trust of Telangana people by not fulfilling the 2014 election promises.
