Baramati Election Results 2024: Supriya Sule, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate from the Sharad Pawar faction, has successfully retained her seat in the Baramati constituency. Sule received a total of 7,32,312 votes, while her opponent, Sunetra Pawar from the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the NCP, secured 5,73,979 votes.
Sule’s victory marks her continued stronghold in the region, as she won by a significant margin of 1,58,333 votes. As Sule secured a huge majority of over 1 lakh votes, the party’s national chief and her father Sharad Pawar said he was confident that Baramatikars would remain loyal as they have been for the last 60 years. “I am thankful to voters of Baramati”, Sule said.
Baramati Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra, covering a part of the Pune district and comprising the six assembly segments.
Traditionally, the Baramati constituency has been a stronghold of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for decades. Supriya Sule, the daughter of veteran leader Sharad Pawar, has won the seat in the 2009, 2014, and 2019 elections.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections have added a new dimension to the contest, as the traditional rivals of the NCP and the Pawars, the Mahayuti, have fielded Sunetra Pawar, wife of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar.
Baramati went to the polls in Phase 3 of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on May 7th, 2024. The final voter turnout in Baramati for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was 59.50%, with a total of 14,11,621 votes polled. This represents an increase of 1,14,761 votes from 2019, but a lower turnout percentage than 61.82% in 2019.
According to the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, Supriya Sule of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) will likely win the Baramati Lok Sabha seat, solidifying their bastion of the constituency.
