To increase the vote percentage on November 9, Una administration has identified polling booths where women voted in large numbers in the last Assembly polls to present them as model booths in every Una constituency. Una district has five Assembly constituencies including Una, Haroli, Gagret, Chintpurni and Kutleharh.
According to the information provided by the district administration in Una, in 2012 elections, Una’s Fatehwal, Gagret’s Loharari, Haroli’s Badehra, Chintpurni’s Talwal polling booths witnessed maximum polling by the women voters. In Badehra, 94 per cent women had exercised their right to vote in 2012, followed by Una’s Fatelwal at 93.88 per cent and Talwal and Loharari witnessing over 88 per cent voting by women.
“Because of more women voters in last elections, we have made these polling booths as model booths for entire district and made it a part of our campaign of inspiring more voters to use their right to vote,” said an officer. Una DC and District Election Officer Vikas Labroo had also organised several programmes including rallies under ‘Systemaic Voters Education and Electoral participation (SVEEP)’ process to ask people to come out and vote.
