As the Bharatiya Janata Party gears up for a historic third term in Haryana, the Congress expressed its dissatisfaction over Tuesday’s results that went against the exit poll predictions.

Addressing the media, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh said it is not possible for the party to accept the results of the Haryana Assembly elections. “Results in Haryana [are] totally unexpected, surprising; they go against ground reality,” he said.

Terming the BJP’s win as “a victory of manipulations”, he said serious issues raised by Congress candidates will be reported to the Election Commission. “In Haryana, it’s a victory of manipulations, subverting will of people and a defeat of transparent, democratic processes,” Ramesh said. “Victory is snatched from us in Haryana, results are against sentiment of people which was for change,” he added.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Jammu and Kashmir, where the Congress-NC alliance is eyeing to form the government, Ramesh said the clear mandate is a “befitting reply” to those who snatched away J&K’s statehood.

“People have given clear mandate, they have given befitting reply to those who trampled upon J-K’s respect by taking away statehood,” he said, while promising that the alliance will make all efforts to restore J&K’s statehood.
