Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already visited the state three times. Last month, he inaugurated and the laid foundation stones for a number of projects in Bhavnagar and Vadodara districts. While BJP has begun its six-day ‘Gujarat Gaurav Maha-Sampark Abhiyan’, Congress too has launched a door-to-door campaign on Tuesday. Elections to Gujarat’s 182-seat assembly will be held on December 9 and 14.
The state Election Commission on Thursday cleared a Gujarat BJP ad with word ‘yuvraj’, a day after it barred the saffron party in the state from using the word “Pappu” in an advertisement, calling it “derogatory”. “Pappu” is mainly used by BJP to ridicule Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
