The BJP launched a pushback on Thursday against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s statement that people do not trust national parties anymore and attributed it to the BRS president’s “frustration”.

“Chandrashekar Rao said in a series of public meetings on Wednesday that people do not trust national parties anymore. But the reality is otherwise. National parties forming governments and running them successfully in various states. He claims the BRS will emerge as a strong force in national politics. He is daydreaming and he will remain a daydreamer forever,” said state BJP spokesperson NV Subhash.

“People are participating in KCR’s meetings not to bless him but to have a last glimpse of state looters and cheaters. These meetings are ‘send-off’ meetings for the BRS,” he added.

Speaking at Nizamabad on Wednesday evening, KCR said that the Congress and the BJP were useless for the state. “After 2024 there will be a coalition government in the country. In the coming days, regional parties will play key roles in national politics. We should show our strength,’’ he said. “We all are developing the state without any difference between Hindus and Muslims. The BJP is a party that divides people on religious lines. The Congress cheated Telangana for more than 50 years and the BJP is not releasing funds. Permissions were not given to new projects and the Krishna water sharing issues were still pending.”

Reacting to Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao’s comments describing BJP leaders as “Sankranti bulls”, Subhash alleged it was another tactic to appease Muslim voters by “insulting Hindu festivals’’. “KTR has no knowledge and doesn’t know the importance of the Sankranti festival and he will continue to target Hindu festivals if the BRS wins in the elections. Makar Sankranti is a harvest festival celebrated by the people, especially the Telugu people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh,’’ he added.

Subhash also said that KTR should know that every Hindu festival comes once in a year, just like how elections come once in five years. He said the people had decided to oust the “anti-Hindu” BRS government to celebrate Sankranti in January with the BJP in power.

The BJP leader also said comparing national parties to “Sankranti bulls” showed nothing but the BRS working president’s arrogance. “Was it possible to form Telangana without the commitment and support of national parties? Where did KCR start his political career? Was it not in a national party?” asked Subhash.
