ECI seizures of liquor, cash crosses Rs 100 crore ahead of Bihar elections, bypolls in 7 other states
Bihar elections 2025: The Election Commission has seized over ₹100 crore in illegal cash, liquor, drugs, and freebies from Bihar and other states ahead of the upcoming assembly and byelections.
Cash and liquor worth over Rs 100 crore have been seized ahead of the elections in Bihar (Representative image). Bihar assembly elections: The Election Commission has confiscated illegal cash, narcotics, liquor, and other inducements worth over Rs 100 crore from Bihar and other states heading for assembly byelections. According to the commission, as of November 3, a total of ₹108.19 crore worth of illicit items have been recovered.
The seizures include Rs 9.62 crore in unaccounted cash, liquor valued at Rs 42.14 crore (9.6 lakh litres), drugs worth Rs 24.61 crore, precious metals estimated at Rs 5.8 crore, and other freebies exceeding Rs 26 crore.
Bihar will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11. Byelections for eight assembly constituencies across Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Punjab, Telangana, and Rajasthan are also set for November 11.
