There are 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. In the 2014 general elections, YSRCP had won 22 seats, and TDP 3. BJP had registered a historic mandate in the last elections, winning 282 seats - an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha. The Congress was reduced to its worst-ever tally, winning only 44 constituencies. Riding on Modi wave and a strong anti-incumbency against the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, the saffron party came back to power after 2004, when the party had faced a crushing defeat.
