“Let us begin today’s bulletin with some news on FC Barcelona’s new signing Robert Lewandowski, who may not be able to play the first game of the season after La Liga has blocked Barcelona from registering new players before the season, as per reports.

Barcelona has surprised many in the offseason by making several high-profile signings despite a difficult situation financially.

After a trophyless season, the club went to the market and quickly became the top off-season spender in Europe.

Lewandowski arrived from Bayern Munich in a deal worth nearly 50 million euros, while Raphinha came from Leeds United for nearly 60 million euros and Koundé from Sevilla for nearly 50 million euros”
“Barcelona surprised many in the offseason by making several high-profile signings despite enduring a difficult situation financially.

The club’s tactics to boost its squad by giving up future income to add new players now prompted plenty of doubts and criticism. But even the most concerned Barcelona fans can’t hide their optimism about the team’s potential ahead of the season that begins next weekend.

The new signings showed plenty of promise in the preseason that ended Sunday with a 6-0 rout of Mexican club Pumas at the Joan Camper tournament at the Camp Nou.

A crowd of more than 83,000 saw the team’s top signing, Robert Lewandowski, score his first goal for the Catalan club and connect well with young playmaker Pedri González.”
England defender Conor Coady has joined Everton from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan, the Premier League clubs said.

The 29-year-old joined Wolves as a midfielder in 2015 from Huddersfield Town and was transformed into a central defender under former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo. He has made 317 appearances in all competitions for the club.

Coady, who captained Wolves for the last four years told the club’s TV channel, “It’s incredible to join Everton. As soon as I heard the interest, from the manager, Frank Lampard, but also the Football Club itself, I really wanted to be part of it straight away. I’m over the moon to join.””

Coady has 10 England caps, making his debut in August 2020 against Denmark.”
“Ismaila Sarr scored a spectacular David Beckham-style chip from his own half but then had a late penalty saved as Watford drew 1-1 with West Brom in the Championship.

David Beckham had scored a similar goal against Wimbledon in 1996.

The 24-year-old Senegal forward gave Watford the lead in the 12th minute with a spectacular chip from almost 60 yards out, before Karlan Grant equalised in first-half stoppage time for West Brom. But Sarr missed a 73rd-minute penalty and the match ended in a draw.

West Brom manager Steve Bruce said, “Like everybody in the ground, did I want to applaud it or look at my goalkeeper, thinking ‘where are you?!”’ ”
“Inter Milan have ended the contract of Chile forward Alexis Sanchez by mutual agreement, the Serie A club said on Monday.
Italian media reports said Sanchez is set to join French side Olympique de Marseille on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old made 109 appearances and scored 20 goals in all competitions after joining Inter from Manchester United in 2019 but rarely appeared in the starting lineup last season.

A statement read, “The club would like to wholeheartedly thank Alexis for these last three seasons, in which the Nerazzurri won three major honours, and we wish him all the best for his future career.””

Alexis Sanchez has also recently played for Arsenal and Manchester United before making the switch to Italy. ”
“After having the worst possible start to their Premier League campaign, losing 2-1 to Brighton, Manchester United is again under scrutiny and their moves in the transfer market have not helped ease any pain.

Cristiano Ronaldo still seems like a different entity to the rest of the team and looked frustrated during the match with Brighton, a game where he was left out of the starting 11

United have made enquiries to sign Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich and former West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic. However, Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau claims Sane doesn’t want to move to Old Trafford, while according to Sky Sports, United have had a bid of around €9m (£7.6m) for Arnautovic rejected by Italian outfit Bologna.”
“We end with news from The Board of Control for Cricket in India, as it announced that the Duleep Trophy will mark the start of India’s domestic cricket season,

Over 1500 matches will be held during the full-fledged season that will commence in the first week of September 2022 and run until mid-March 2023.

The Duleep Trophy will be played from September 8 to September 25, and it will be contested between six zones, North, South, Central, West, East and Northeast, on a knockout basis. It will be followed by the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The two white-ball tournaments will be contested between 38 teams split into three groups of 8 teams and two groups comprising seven teams.”
