Let us begin today’s bulletin with news on Actor Sai Pallavi’s much-awaited film “Gargi”. The actor recently announced the release date of the film. The film, which is written and directed by Gautham Ramachandran, is heading to the theatres on July 15. Sharing a poster of the film, Sai Pallavi tweeted, “Gargi will be yours from the 15th of July.” Fans are eagerly waiting to know more details about the film. Earlier this year, the makers of the film treated the audience to a glimpse of the film. In the glimpse, she is constantly seeking the truth and demands respect from her family, who treat her unfairly because she is a woman.
“Meanwhile, Dhanush recently shared a teaser in which he announced the title of his next movie. The actor is collaborating with director Arun Matheswaran for “Captain Miller”. Going by the teaser, the film looks like a historical drama. Sharing the video on his Twitter account, Dhanush promised that Captain Miller is “going to be so exciting.” He also expressed that he is “super kicked” to be working with Arun and GV Prakash, who is composing music for the film.
Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai shared some more details about the film. He informed that Captain Miller will be a period action-adventure drama set in the Madras Presidency period of the 1930s and 40s. ”
“The makers of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan, Lyca Productions, and Madras Talkies, released the motion poster of the film on Saturday. Ponniyin Selvan will release in two parts, and the first part will open in cinemas on September 30. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to make her acting come back with the Mani Ratnam directorial. The story is set in the tumultuous period before Ponniyin Selvan, later known as Rajaraja Chola, became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history.
Mani Ratnam’s film will have AR Rahman as the music composer, Ravi Varman as the cinematographer, Thota Tharrani being the production designer, and Sreekar Prasad as the film’s editor.
“In other news, Tamil actor Simbu has three films that are getting ready to hit cinema halls at quick intervals this year. His long-delayed movie Maha, which also stars Hansika Motwani in the lead role, is due to arrive in cinemas on June 22.
In Maha, Simbu is said to have played a supporting role to Hansika as the whole film revolves around her character. Directed by UR Jameel, the movie also stars Srikanth, Sanam Shetty, Karunakaran and Thambi Ramaiah. Simbu’s first big release of this year will be Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The film marks Simbu’s reunion with director Gautham Menon after a gap of six years.
“Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu was overjoyed after bumping into billionaire technologist Bill Gates in New York recently. He also shared a photo from the meeting with Gates whom he called “the greatest visionaries” on his social media handles.
Mahesh wrote on his Facebook page, “Had the pleasure of meeting Mr Bill Gates! One of the greatest visionaries this world has seen… and yet the most humble! Truly an inspiration!” Gates also reciprocated Mahesh’s excitement by responding to the latter’s Facebook post. He wrote, “Being in New York is always fun – you never know who you’ll run into. It was great meeting you and Namrata!”.
“Moving on, Adivi Sesh-starrer Major is now streaming on Netflix. Earlier this week, Netflix shared a post announcing that the Mahesh Babu production venture will stream on the platform from July 3 onwards. The tweet read, “The untold story of a son. The untold story of a father. The untold story of a SOLDIER. Major is coming to Netflix on 3rd July in Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam! #MajorOnNetflix,”
Sashi Kiran Tikka’s directorial Major is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who sacrificed his life-fighting terrorists during the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The movie opened to mixed reviews on June 3. Adivi Sesh is an interview called Major “an all-Indian film.” He stated that the term pan-Indian has been “abused.”
“Meanwhile, The fourth season of the popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss Malayalam’ goes live. The show is hosted by Mohanlal. This is the first season in two years to reach its natural conclusion.
The previous season was canceled unceremoniously midway owing to the complication induced by the second wave of the Covid infections. The contestants of the Bigg Boss house in Chennai were evicted and later the property was sealed by the local authorities, who also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the showrunners for violating safety guidelines.
The winner of this season will be picked among the six finalists: Riyas Salim, Blesslee, Lakshmi Priya, Sooraj Thelakkad, Dilsha Prasannan, and Dhanya Mary Varghese.
“Lastly, the Critically-acclaimed Malayalam drama ‘Paka’ will be available for viewing on SonyLIV from July 7. Directed by sound designer-turned-filmmaker Nithin Lukose, the film premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in the Discovery Section.
SonyLIV shared the release date announcement on its official Twitter page. The tweet read, “A gripping drama of internecine, never-ending feud. Paka will be streaming on SonyLIV from July 7th”. Paka, which translates to ‘River of Blood’ in English, is described as a tale of a river that swells with the blood of two feuding families and a young couple that tries to overcome this hatred with their love. The film features an ensemble cast of Basil Paulose, Vinitha Koshy, Jose Kizhakkan, Athul John, Nithin George, and Joseph Manickal.
