Our flagship daily news show, where hosts Shashank Bhargava and Snigdha Sharma talk to in-house experts about what is going on and why you need to care about it.
Earlier this week, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee made history by returning to power in West Bengal for a third time. This happened despite the anti-incumbency against it, a wave of desertions from the party, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulling out all the big guns and resources to contest to win the polls. But how did the TMC manage to do this? What are the factors that went against the BJP? And what does it mean for both the parties? In this episode, first Indian Express’ Shantanu Chowdhury, who covers West Bengal politics, joins us to answer these questions.
And later, Liz Mathew, who covers BJP for the newspaper, tells us about how BJP is viewing this loss, and the lessons it can learn from this election (25:30).
