Each packet contained around 400-500 grams of explosive material.

On December 24,explosives were recovered from 70-year-old Musharraf’s route to a special court.

He was supposed to appear in the court to face treason charges for suspending, subverting and abrogating the Constitution, imposing an emergency in the country in November 2007 and detaining judges of the superior courts.

His lawyer had then said security threats had prevented Musharraf from appearing before the court.

Security personnel had found two pistols,a five-meter detonator wire as well as 16 bullets near his farmhouse when they were clearing his route to the hearing.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) had arrived at the scene and diffused the bomb which was found in a briefcase.
