Singer Christina Grimmie’s hometown plans vigil in her memory

The vigil will be held at the memorial complex of her hometown at south New Jersey.

The southern New Jersey town where Christina Grimmie grew up will hold a candlelight vigil to honor the singer who was fatally shot after a weekend concert in Florida.

Evesham Township Mayor Randy Brown says the vigil will be held at 8:45 p.m. Monday at the town’s Memorial Complex.

The 22-year-old Grimmie was shot Friday night as she signed autographs after a show in Orlando.

Authorities say she apparently had no personal connection to the man who shot her. The gunman fatally shot himself after being tackled by her brother. Grimmie was a YouTube star who was widely known from her appearances on NBC’s “The Voice” two years ago. Grimmie lived in Evesham, a small community about 20 miles from Philadelphia, before moving to Los Angeles in 2012.
