UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte had an awkward encounter on the steps of 10 Downing Street, the residence of the former, as they appeared to be temporarily locked out.

In a video shared by Sky News, Sunak was seen welcoming the outgoing leader of Netherlands on the steps, where the two posed for photographers. However, after that, the leaders were seen waiting as they were unable to access Number 10.

The footage shows the two, in their confusion, attempting to peek through the side windows as the wreath-decorated 10 Downing Street door remained briefly shut, locking the two outside. The door is shortly opened by a figure not seen in the video, and two enter the residence.

The leaders discussed a range of issues including the Middle East, Ukraine and illegal migration, Sky News reported.

In a post of X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Rutte informed that the two had a successful meeting where they discussed support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict against Russia and the two countries’ defence cooperation in the area, along with the situation in Israel and Palestine.
