(AP) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that Ukraine remains grateful to the United States and to US President Donald Trump for Washington’s support in the war with Russia, responding to Trump’s earlier comment that Kyiv had shown “zero gratitude.”
In a post on Telegram, Zelenskyy said: “Ukraine is thankful to the United States, to every American heart and particularly to President Trump for the help which, starting with Javelin missiles, saves Ukrainian lives.”
Trump had written on Truth Social earlier on Sunday that Ukraine’s leadership had shown “zero gratitude” for US efforts, as Washington continues to send weapons and equipment through NATO to Kyiv.
Zelenskyy also thanked Europe and the G7 and G20 countries for their support, saying that keeping this assistance strong remains essential. “This is why we are working so carefully on every point, every step towards peace,” he wrote. “Everything has to be worked out correctly so that we can truly end this war and prevent war from happening again.”
