US man beheads infant son, attacks wife and mother-in-law: Officials

“When deputies arrived at the scene, they attempted to make contact with Demskiy, but he refused to open the door or cooperate peacefully,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Police soon learned that the couple’s one-year-old son was still inside the home with Demskiy, and there were concerns for the child’s safety. Officials said they were informed that Demskiy might have injured the child after reportedly throwing him.

Fearing for the child’s life, officers forcibly entered the residence. Inside, they detained Demskiy, who resisted arrest and acted uncooperatively. During their search, police discovered the severed head of the infant in a bedroom where Demskiy was found.

Investigators revealed that the horrifying act occurred after the two women fled the home following a domestic violence incident. Once alone, Demskiy used a knife to kill his son.

Demskiy has been charged with murder and is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 24.

The sheriff’s office described the crime as “demonic” and one of the most disturbing cases they have encountered.
