This ad comes at a time when former President Donald Trump and his allies are increasingly employing inflammatory rhetoric in the lead-up to the election. Trump has a history of making disparaging remarks about Harris, previously calling her “mentally impaired.” He has also targeted media figures like CNN’s Anderson Cooper, referring to him with a woman’s name, which plays into stereotypes about gay men.

The atmosphere of crude humor was palpable at a Trump rally held at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, where comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made offensive jokes, including one in which he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

A representative for the PAC declined to comment on the video. The advertisement concludes with a call for viewers to sign America PAC’s petition in support of the US Constitution, which is limited to voters in battleground states.

In an effort to incentivize participation, Musk has pledged to give away $1 million daily until November 5 to individuals in these states who sign the petition. However, this practice has led to legal challenges, including a lawsuit from the district attorney in Philadelphia.

Musk endorsed Trump earlier this year and has participated in several of his rallies and pro-Trump events, particularly in Pennsylvania. Both Musk and Trump have repeatedly referred to Harris as “Comrade Kamala,” insinuating that her presidency would usher in socialist policies in the United States. The ad’s release reflects a broader strategy by Trump and his supporters to galvanize their base through provocative and controversial messaging as the election approaches.
