US President Donald Trump on Monday alleged that Volodymyr Zelenskyy ‘doesn’t want there to be peace’, terming the Ukrainian President latest comments “the worst statement that could have been made.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump referenced an AP report in which Zelenskyy said the war’s end remains “very, very far away,” arguing that the Ukrainian leader “doesn’t want there to be peace as long as he has America’s backing.”
“America will not put up with it for much longer,” Trump wrote, adding that European leaders told Zelenskyy in a recent meeting that they “cannot do the job without the US”
The US president’s remarks follow a tense Oval Office exchange with Zelenskyy that unsettled America’s allies and fueled concerns about Washington leaning toward Russia. Notably, in his Truth Social post, Trump referenced an Associated Press report on Zelenskyy’s comments—despite having banned the outlet from the Oval Office.
