Former US President Donald Trump and ‘Goodfellas’ actor Robert De Niro engaged in a heated exchange of words after De Niro called Trump a “tyrant” outside of a Manhattan court where Trump’s hush money trial is ongoing.

While De Niro criticized Trump, saying “he can destroy the world”, Trump responded by calling him “wacko” in a post on his social media platform Truth Social.

In the post, Trump said, “I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was.”

After De Niro’s press conference, he was met with a crowd of pro-Trump protesters who called him “wannabe”, “nobody” and a “paid sellout”. De Niro retorted by saying, “You are gangsters”, a video clip of which was shared by Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Trump in his post further said, “Today, De Niro, who suffers from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, commonly known in the medical community as TDS, was met, outside the Courthouse, with a force far greater than the Radical Left – Maga.”

De Niro’s press conference was a part of the campaign of US President and Democratic candidate Joe Biden. De Niro accused Trump of being “just another grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot”. The actor said that Trump “wants to destroy not only the city, but the country and eventually, he could destroy the world.”

Trump took the opportunity to take a dig at the two-time Oscar winning actor’s skills and said “Robert, whose movies, artistry, and brand have gone way down in value since he entered the political arena at the request of crooked Joe Biden, looked so pathetic and sad out there.”

The Republican nominee for the upcoming 2024 US election, Donald Trump has been undergoing a trial at the Manhattan court related to hush money. He is the first former US President to be on criminal trial in court and he has been charged with 34 counts of fraud related to hush money being paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Daniels alleged that in 2006, she had sex with Trump and was asked to keep mum about it during the 2016 US election campaign which Trump eventually won.

Later, Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen claimed on the witness stand that at Trump’s behest, he paid Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about the alleged incident with an assurance that he will be repaid by the former President.

Trump has repeatedly argued that he is not guilty and that the Democrats have engineered the case in order to affect his presidential bid for the 2024 election.
