At least 1 student killed, 2 wounded in stabbing near Santa Ana school in California

According to city police spokesperson Officer Natalie Garcia, all three Santa Ana High School students were taken to the hospital after the incident, where one of them died and the other two were in stable condition.

The stabbing took place in the afternoon after the school hours were over and the students were leaving school for the day, said district spokesperson Fermin Leal. According to a report by Associated Press, both students and nonstudents were involved in the incident.

Officer Garcia said that authorities were searching for two suspects behind the heinous act, whose connection to the school and the motive remain unclear.

UPDATE: The victim, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, was sadly pronounced deceased.

Officials informed that after-school activities and athletics were cancelled by the school administration and the Santa Ana High School would also make crisis counselors available on Thursday.

In a post on X, Santa Ana Police Department said “Today, at approximately 3:25 p.m., our officers responded to Santa Ana High School regarding a stabbing involving three victims, all believed to be students. The victims were transported to local hospitals.”

The post by police further added, “SAPD officers, along with Santa Ana School Police, have established a perimeter in the area in an effort to locate the outstanding suspects. Please stay away from the area.”
