Sanders criticises Trump on climate change amidst heatwave in India

In 2012, Trump dismissed climate change as a “hoax” and a “money-making industry” invented by China to harm the U.S. economy, as reported by AP. The former US President has remained publicly vocal about his scepticism towards climate change.

During the 2020 presidential debate, AP reported that when asked if he believes human pollution and greenhouse gas emissions contribute to global warming, Trump finally acknowledged, “I think a lot of things do, but I think to an extent, yes.”

According to a study by the University of Michigan, nearly 15% of Americans don’t believe in climate change, as reported by The Guardian.

Meanwhile, in India, record-breaking high temperatures have been observed. Delhi witnessed the tragic death of a laborer due to extreme heat, while at least 18 individuals, including eight officials on election duty, have succumbed to heat-related ailments in Bihar.

Looking ahead at the US elections in November, Trump, the Republican nominee for the White House, faces legal scrutiny for allegedly falsifying records to conceal a hush money payment he made in 2016 to an adult film star.
