The New York Times has decided to stop endorsing candidates in New York elections, according to a statement from the paper’s opinion editor, Kathleen Kingsbury.

Although the editorial board will continue its endorsements in presidential races, the paper will no longer back candidates in local New York elections, starting immediately.

The editorial board, led by Kingsbury, has announced a shift in its approach, opting not to endorse candidates in the upcoming elections.
